At one of Turkey's leading home appliance manufacturers and one of the energy sector's leading companies, financial transactions concluded on Bloomberg RFQ are now transferred into SAP TRM automatically, product by product. Entering the same deal into two systems is a thing of the past.

Treasury teams at large enterprises actively use the Bloomberg RFQ platform to collect prices and select counterparties for financial market transactions. Re-entering a deal executed on Bloomberg manually into SAP Treasury & Risk Management, however, creates operational workload, data inconsistency and the risk of user error.
In projects Montag delivered at one of Turkey's leading home appliance manufacturers and one of the energy sector's leading companies, financial transactions concluded on the Bloomberg RFQ platform are now transferred into SAP Treasury & Risk Management automatically. Treasury teams no longer need to recreate the same financial transaction in two different systems.
Treasury teams could obtain prices from different banks via Bloomberg RFQ and conclude the deal with the right counterparty. Once the deal was done on Bloomberg, however, it had to be entered again into SAP Treasury with all of its terms:
In high-volume treasury organisations this double entry was a significant operational burden, and it raised the risk of manual data errors, discrepancies between Bloomberg and SAP, wrong product terms or counterparties, and operational delay. The core need was for the deal to be executed only on Bloomberg RFQ, with the SAP record created automatically by the system.
The principle behind the solution was simple:
Different financial products on Bloomberg have different data structures and deal terms, so the integration was not treated as a generic data transfer. For each financial product, a product-specific design mapped the Bloomberg data structure to its counterpart in SAP TRM. Transaction type, nominal amount, currencies, interest structure, maturity details, counterparty, transaction dates and financial terms were all converted into the relevant product structure within SAP TRM.
For each product type, the deal data on Bloomberg is transferred correctly into the relevant product and transaction structure in SAP Treasury. Because multi-parameter products such as Commodity, IRS and CCS carry a higher risk when entered manually than simple payments, the product-based design brought a standard, repeatable integration logic.
The integration between Bloomberg and SAP Treasury established a straight-through processing approach with a higher level of automation in treasury operations. Because deal data flows between the systems automatically once the transaction is concluded on Bloomberg RFQ, the need for manual intervention fell: deal entry became faster, operational errors decreased, data consistency between the two systems improved, and treasury teams could focus on financial decisions instead of manual operations.
Bloomberg became the platform where the deal is executed, and SAP Treasury the central system of record and process where the deal is managed within the company's financial systems — working together.
The same integration approach was implemented at two large corporate organisations:
Although the financial product needs of the two sectors differ, the core approach stayed the same: execute the deal on Bloomberg RFQ, create the SAP Treasury record automatically. This showed that the solution architecture is applicable and scalable across different treasury organisations.
| Business problem | Financial transactions executed on Bloomberg RFQ had to be re-entered manually into SAP Treasury. |
|---|---|
| Solution | Automated financial transaction integration between Bloomberg RFQ and SAP Treasury & Risk Management. |
| Approach | Mapping the Bloomberg data structure to the SAP TRM product model for each financial product. |
| Financial products | Commodity, Interest Rate Swap, Cross Currency Swap and other treasury products. |
| Process | The deal is concluded on Bloomberg RFQ; its data is transferred into SAP TRM automatically. |
| Operational gain | No more manual entry of the same deal into two systems. |
| Where it runs | One of Turkey's leading home appliance manufacturers and one of the energy sector's leading organisations. |
| Outcome | An integrated treasury operating model in which Bloomberg market transactions are transferred into SAP TRM automatically and product by product. |
Financial transactions executed on Bloomberg RFQ can now be transferred into SAP TRM automatically.
The need to re-enter the same transaction into SAP manually was eliminated.
Separate data-mapping and integration models were built for Commodity, Interest Rate Swap and Cross Currency Swap.
Financial product terms are carried consistently between the two systems.
The operational risk arising from manual data entry was reduced.
Treasury operations moved to a straight-through processing approach.
Automatic feed of Bloomberg market data into the SAP Treasury module. Real-time updates for exchange rates, interest rates and security prices.
