At one of Turkey's leading textile companies, bank integrations and the SAP Treasury foundation came first, then actual and planned cash flow went live; in the final phase, SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Fiori delivered a management cockpit where the CFO monitors loans, deposits, FX, letters of guarantee, letters of credit and cash flow in real time from a mobile device.

At large enterprises, the financial information a CFO needs is usually scattered across different systems and reports: the loan portfolio in one report, bank balances in another system, the FX position on treasury screens, letters of guarantee in separate tables, cash flow in reports prepared on the side. In such a setup, even seemingly simple management questions take time to answer:
At one of Turkey's leading textile companies, this need was met with an end-to-end finance architecture. Bank integrations and the SAP Treasury & Risk Management foundation were built first, followed by actual and planned cash flow processes. Once financial data was flowing centrally and up to date, the CFO Reporting Cockpit was built on SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Fiori.
The project's core architectural principle was not to start reporting with dashboard design: a good CFO cockpit rests on accurate, current, integrated data before it rests on good-looking charts. The transformation therefore moved in stages:
The cockpit's purpose was to stop executives having to log into different systems to hunt for information. Different financial products and positions were brought together in a common reporting structure:
One of the core goals was that the reports would not be classic desktop-only finance reports. With the SAP Analytics Cloud and SAP Fiori foundation, financial indicators became viewable on iPad, iPhone, Android and other compatible platforms. The aim: instead of asking the finance team for a new Excel or PowerPoint report at every information need, the CFO sees the company's financial position on their own screen whenever they want.
Tables of dozens of rows and columns are not always the right format for senior management decisions. Portfolio distributions, positions by currency and bank, maturity structures, cash positions, actual and planned cash flow and financial risk indicators were therefore presented through charts and management indicators.
Loan portfolio. A consolidated view of a portfolio spread across many banks, currencies and maturity structures was created; management can now assess total financing, the distribution by bank and currency, the maturity profile and the financing structure in a single environment.
FX position and financial risk. The FX position — one of the most critical indicators for internationally active manufacturers — was carried into management reporting using the financial transactions in SAP TRM. The operational transactions in the treasury system became the direct data source for management-level risk visibility.
Letters of guarantee and letters of credit. Assessing the financial position correctly goes beyond cash and loans; these off-balance-sheet or obligation-creating instruments were brought into the cockpit with their maturities and amounts.
The project's most important gain was that financial data no longer stayed in the operational systems. When a loan is created in SAP Treasury it is no longer just a transaction managed by the treasury team; the same chain was built for cash, deposits, FX, letters of guarantee and letters of credit:
Visualising on SAP Analytics Cloud was never about reproducing existing operational SAP reports on screen. One question was asked of every report: "What decision should the CFO be able to make when they look at this screen?" That approach turned the project from a technical data-display exercise into a financial cockpit project that supports management decisions. SAP Fiori screens gave executives a user experience in which they reach the indicators they need directly, rather than navigating complex SAP transaction screens.
